Los comicios de abril de 2022 en Hungría suponen una continuidad en las políticas reaccionarias de FIDESZ y Viktor Orbán en una dinámica de «giro autoritario» en Europa, destacando las políticas xenófobas y de exclusión. La frontera y sus límites son cuestiones que se postulan fundamentales para entender Europa y, por ende, la gestión de la inmigración y el asilo, encadenando y configurando el discurso antiinmigración húngaro de la última década. Así, en este trabajo se analiza la vinculación política del cristianismo y el islam en la construcción y constitución del imaginario y las políticas públicas xenófobas del gobierno de Viktor Orbán, caracterizadas por un populismo de extrema derecha en ascenso en el continente que pone el foco en un enemigo común conformado por la alteridad: el «Otro» musulmán. En este sentido, se propone que la defensa de los valores cristianos forma parte de la identidad proyecto que legitima el modelo autoritario de Orbán.
