IntroductionThe SARS-CoV-2 outbreak has threatened the human population globally as the numbers of reinfection cases even after large-scale vaccination. Trials have been carried out to find drugs effective in fighting the disease, as COVID-19 is being considered a treatable disease only after we have antivirals. A clinical candidate originally developed for HIV treatment, AZVUDINE (FNC), is a promising drug in the treatment of COVID-19.MethodsTo predict the clinical outcome of COVID-19, we examined the course of viral load, every 48 h, by RT-PCR, and disease severity using an antiviral drug, FNC, with 281 participants. A randomized clinical trial was performed to evaluate the efficacy of FNC added to standard treatment, compared with placebo group added to standard treatment, for patients with mild COVID-19. RT-qPCR and ddPCR were applied to estimate the viral load in samples from patients. Also, the clinical improvement was evaluated as well as the liver and kidney function. Results and discussionNotably, the FNC treatment in the mild COVID-19 patients may shorten the time of the nucleic acid negative conversion (NANC) versus placebo group. In addition, the FNC was effective in reducing the viral load of these participants. The present clinical trial results showed that the FNC accelerate the elimination of the virus in and could reduce treatment time of mild patients and save a lot of medical resources, making it a strong candidate for the outpatient and home treatment of COVID-19.Clinical trial registrationhttps://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT05033145, identifier NCT05033145.
The thermometric video image (VTM) can guide the search for distant metastases, once the vascular architecture is known, identifying, by segmentation, the tumor thermal impression and a similar pattern at a distance. Thus, suspicious areas can be better investigated, improving the postoperative prognosis. In this study, it was possible to observe the assertive capacity of video thermometry in identifying distant metastases and breast tumors in female dogs, not palpable or visible to the naked eye, in relation to conventionally used techniques. It was also possible to identify textures with anatomical limits, from emboli to early formations of carcinomas, adenocarcinomas and adenomyoepithelioma. It was also possible to find non-neoplastic changes such as dermatitis, lipoma, hyperplasia and breast cysts. it can be concluded that the video thermometry (VTM) technique was capable of identifying distant metastases from the primary tumor and other benign alterations with great precision. However, for this to be possible, it is essential that the processing be carried out by SaMD (Software as a Medical Device), with tools capable of identifying patterns and thermal signatures, just like the algorithm, thus increasing the efficacy of the technique.
Abstract:The climate changes that swept the world in recent decades have alerted the entire scientific community, increasing considerably the number of studies in search of solutions to environmental problems. Since the 1970s, there have been discussions around the world about environmental education, becoming an alternative to sensitize the new generations on the importance of human-environment interaction. The need to reformulate the educational system is therefore essential, thinking of new pedagogical practices that promote responsible citizens and aware of their role and place in the world. It is in the school environment that future citizens receive the first stimuli to raise awareness about the environment. Promoting the contact of the school community with a green space and stimulating teamwork among students, promoting understanding of environmental education is of paramount importance to sensitize students and the community to environmental issues. The implementation of the school garden was an efficient and effective strategy to promote environmental education. Students have learned the importance of living harmoniously with the environment is one of the roles that must be played by the school. Developing this skill in students is critical to empowering citizens who are aware that natural
