The objectives of the research are to know and describe the average score of students’ narrative writing ability, and to know and describe whether there is an influence of Summarizing Short Stories towards students’ narrative writing ability at SMP Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung in 2020/2021. Most of the students get difficulties in improving their language skills, especially in writing. Writing is a problem in expressing and developing ideas or thoughts into written form. Narrative text is one of kinds of text that should be learned by the students. To solve the problem above, the writer used the technique in teaching narrative writing that is Summarizing Short Stories. In this research, the writer chooses the title: “The Influence of Summarizing Short Stories towards Students’ Narrative Writing Ability at the Second Semester of the Eighth Class at SMP Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung in 2020/2021”. In this reseach, the writer analyzed the result by using t-test formula. The research was conducted at the eighth class of SMP Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung in 2020/2021. The students of VIIIa were as a sample that were taught by using Summarizing Short Stories. The result of the research showed that there was significant influence of using Summarizing Short Stories towards students’ narrative writing ability. It is shown by the distribution list with df = (n1 + n2 – 2) = (23 + 22 – 2) = 43 obtained ttable t0.95 or significance level of 5% and ttable t0.99 or significance level of 1% was equal to 1.68 and 2.42. there were lower than tcount = 3.84 and the average score of students’ narrative writing ability in experimental class ( =66.58) was higher than the students’ score in control class (: 56.14) at the second semester of the eighth class of SMP Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung in 2020/2021.
<p><em>Habit formed character, for instance: the habit of lining-up. The study aimed to describe the habit of lining up and to describe the habit of lining up to form discipline character. It was qualitative with a narrative approach. The procedures of the study were: 1) doing observation, 2) analyzing problem, 3) having problem statement, 4) doing research, 5) analyzing data, and 6) having data validity. The result showed that the habit of lining up in SD Negeri 1 Kutosari worked well. It was proven by some indicators: (1) precise movement based on the rules, (2) firmness of leader when giving command, (3) neatness in lining up, (4) consistency in lining up, (5) enthusiasm in lining up, (6) resemblance of movement. The lining up applied every morning in all grades. The second grade students of SD Negeri 1 Kutosari had discipline character. They showed several indicators: (1) arrived on time, (2) paid attention to the lesson, (3) did the homework, (4) obeyed school rules, (5) obeyed teacher's advice, (6) wore school uniform, and (7) had flag ceremony quietly.</em></p><p><strong>Keywords</strong><em>: Habit, Lining up, Discipline</em><em></em></p>
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan membaca siswa yang belajar membaca melalui kelompok membaca kooperatif dan mendeskripsikan pengaruh Cooperative Reading Groups terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dan menggunakan dua kelas sebagai sampel yang diambil dengan menggunakan cluster random sampling. Dalam teknik pengumpulan data digunakan tes, tes objektif dengan pilihan ganda. Peneliti menggunakan analisis kuantitatif dengan rumus uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan diperoleh bahwa rasio = 4, 96 dan ttabel 5% = 2,00 dan 1% = 2,66. Jadi, Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Artinya kelompok membaca kooperatif memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa dan nilai rata-rata siswa yang belajar dengan menggunakan kelompok membaca kooperatif (80,8) lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang belajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional (69,2).
