Present study deals with mineralization of azodye by electrolytic method. Under electrolytic method, Electro-Fenton technique is explored to mineralize azodye from 50 ppm to safe discharge limit of ≤ 1 ppm and the effects of important parameters which ultimately decide the rate of mineralization of azodye viz. pH, temperature, concentration of oxidizer and catalyst etc. have been critically studied. The detailed studies have been carried out which include variation in different parameters viz. pH from acidic range to basic range, catalyst concentration from 10 ppm to 30 ppm, oxidizer concentration from 10 mM to 40 mM, applied potential from 6 to 24 V and temperature from 30 to 60° C for efficient mineralization of azodye. Catalyst concentration of 25 ppm, pH of 3, applied potential of 12 V, temperature of 40° C and oxidizer concentration of 35 mM have been found optimal for Electro-Fenton technique to mineralize 50 ppm azodye solution up to its drain discharge limit ≤ 1 ppm. The treated solution has been characterized by using UV-Visible spectrophotometer and TOC analyzer.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
