Objective: Football activities may be directly related to the playing position of the players on the field; so, football players develop their specific physical characteristics based on the demands of individual positions. This study aimed to investigate the biomechanical and anthropometric variables of football players according to the playing position. Methods: This review study reviewed Google Scholar, PubMed and Science Direct search engines for articles related to the keywords from 1996 to 2020. Results: According to the reviewed articles, it was found that biomechanical and anthropometric variables in football players are different according to the playing position. Conclusion: It seems that biomechanical and anthropometric variables can have a direct impact on the performance of players during the game, so special attention to these variables in the field of talent identification and selection of football players in different playing positions should be considered.
