I.-SITUACIÓN La villa se encuentra situada a menos de 1 km al norte de Talavera la Nueva (Toledo), junto al arroyo Baladíes o Albaladiel, dentro del municipio y comarca de Talavera de la Reina. Las coordenadas U.T.M. que localizan el yacimiento son 338750 E y 4423450 N y aparecen en la hoja 626, Calera y Chozas, del Mapa Topográfico Nacional a escala 1:50.000. El enclave del yacimiento apenas rebasa los 360 m de altitud, con escaso resalte orográfico en el entorno, en plena llanura aluvial de la margen derecha del río Tajo y a 3 km. escasos de distancia del curso actual. En este artículo presentamos por primera vez una historiografía dedicada a los ladrillos paleocristianos y visigodos, para después dar a conocer setenta y nueve ejemplares inéditos depositados en la Fundación Alhonoz (Ecija, Sevilla). Los ejemplares dados a conocer proceden de diversas provincias andaluzas (Sevilla, Córdoba y Huelva) y son producto de hallazgos casuales realizados como consecuencia de las faenas agrícolas realizadas en los numerosos cortijos de la zona. Con la publicación de estos ejemplares queremos contribuir a ampliar el corpus de estos elementos ornamentales que tanta difusión tuvieron en algunas zonas del sur peninsular. Así mismo queremos presentar algunas nuevas decoraciones que hasta el momento no se habían recogido en estudios precedentes como los realizados por Rada y Delgado, Fariña Couto o Palol, entre otros investigadores. Se alude a las iconografías representadas en las piezas para pasar a dar una interpretación funcional de las mismas.
La danza es considerada un arte natural y primordial. Tiene un valor simbólico, ya que expresa un sentimiento y un estado emocional del alma. Desde sus comienzos, el baile fue la ejecución artística para la que el hombre estuvo mejor dispuesto (Bonilla, L., 1964, 9). En la Península Ibérica disponemos de numerosos documentos iconográficos y algunas fuentes escritas (Estrabón, III, 3, 7) que nos permiten adentrarnos en el espacio y en el tiempo donde se desarrollaron estas manifestaciones. Las escenas de baile son muchas y variadas, falta un estudio de conjunto que permita una valoración más completa. Nuestra vinculación por razones profesionales con el tema \ nos permite brevemente acercarnos a una de estas danzas en las que siempre intervienen varios individuos y donde es frecuente el contacto de sus manos, manifestación de la unión de los intérpretes, conocida con el nombre de «Danza de manos entrelazadas».
