Anopheles calderoni ha sido recientemente registrado en Colombia y aparentemente muchos de los aspectos bionómicos de An. punctimacula corresponden a esta especie, esclarecer esta confusión es indispensable para desarrollar programas de prevención y control de vectores de malaria, por tal motivo, en este trabajo se evalúa su actividad de picadura en tres estaciones de dos localidades del Valle del Cauca: una en El Otoño (Candelaria) y dos en Laguna de Sonso (Buga); se realizaron 312h de colecta con cebo humano protegido, en periodos de 12h (18:00 a 06:00), colectando 5.831 especímenes, 334 en El Otoño, 864 y 4.633 en la estación uno y dos de la Laguna de Sonso respectivamente. El índice de picadura por humano por noche (IPHN) y por hora (IPHH), así como las horas de mayor actividad de picadura variaron entre las estaciones y sitios de muestreo, esto estuvo aparentemente relacionado con la proximidad de las estaciones de colecta a los criaderos o con la disponibilidad y productividad de criaderos locales. El IPHN varió de 26,5 a 78,5 (=55,7) en El Otoño, y entre 16,5 y 157,0 (=65,8) y 246,0 y 1265,5 (=661,9) en la estación uno y dos de la Laguna de Sonso respectivamente. En conclusión, en ambas localidades la especie presentó un comportamiento unimodal y bimodal dependiente de las densidades y muy heterogéneo entre las noches de muestreo, lo que sugiere una característica de plasticidad en su comportamiento hematófago.
