Mobile Streaming is a very attractive multimedia service that has many applications; in this paper a model of a mobile voice message (MVM) service has been proposed using JAVA ME, whose aim is to create and deliver streaming of voice messages to mobile phones. The MVM model is based on a layered client-server architecture. MVM is designed to operate in wireless data networks, such as Wi-Fi, GPRS and 3G, where mobile clients access information sources via wireless channels. Emerging JAVA ME technology is discussed as an efficient platform for providing a mobile client solution. Based on this concept, a prototype for a mobile voice message application was developed, implemented and tested using different audio codecs. The proposed model has been evaluated and validated experimentally and the results shows that AMR codec can outperform than PCM codec in terms of bandwidth utilisation .
