Water is one of the most important inputs for economic development and sustainable development; as the demand increases, so too does the importance of water. The future looks miserable if Egypt does not succeed in formulating and implementing water resources management approach which can match the limited freshwater supply with the increasing demand. This study intended to shed the light on the future water status in Egypt based on the current status of the available water resources, the water demand, the institutional and legislative frameworks of water management, adding to shed the light on the strategies and policies to rationalize water use and to augment water supply. This study intended to explore how Egypt will safeguard its water resources in the future, both with respect to quantity and quality and how it will use these resources in the best way. Recommendations to help overcome anticipated water challenges and to optimize the available opportunities were provided in this worthwhile study as knowledge of Egyptian water resource planning is presently very limited and largely undocumented. Hence, the challenges and opportunities were discussed in order to support the decision-making process concerned with water resources management as an essential prerequisite for Egypt sustainable development. The future scenarios that introduce the future challenges, using the available opportunities, were investigated and recommendations to help overcome the future challenges were presented.
Dysfunctional behavior at the workplace reflects the behavior that violates remarkably the accepted norms at the workplace which is in turn can be destructive to overall organizational performance. This study aims to explore the relationship between dysfunctional behavior at the workplace and employees’ job performance. In order to study the issue of organizational dysfunction in Egypt, a unique organization was taken as a case study, namely SEKEM. This research is qualitative research based on the approach of Action Research. Through this approach, a semi-structured interview was designed by the researchers and used to collect data from the employees of SEKEM. As such, it is recommended to take new approaches to effectively manage dysfunctional behavior at the workplace.
Higher education plays a crucial role for developing responsible citizens and accordingly a key priority for educators should be how to prepare their students for contributing to society development. Traditional teaching methods have been insufficient to realize these aims and experiential learning has been recommended for supporting learning effectiveness in higher education as experiential learning plays a crucial role to complement the required capabilities. In business education,experiential learning has focused on the simulation of real world business practices. As experiential learning is a relatively new educational practical approach in Egypt, this study sheds the light on the rational process of experiential learning as well as the study aims to evaluate the benefits and obstacles that educators may face when implementing an experiential approach. The case study presents an experiential learning model based on a business simulation, reflecting its effectiveness to develop students" learning process and learning outcome. Using qualitative analysis, the study investigates the responses of diverse undergraduate student teams to a business simulation as a new experiential learning approach. The study recommends that experiential learning approach has proven useful for supporting the business students" effective learning.
There is a remarkable interest from both public and private sectors for supporting and sustaining energetic organizations that have the ability to be creative and productive over time. However, there is still a limited attention on the human dimension of sustainability compared to the economic and environmental dimensions. Human energy is in fact a crucial dimension of human sustainability to maintain energetic organizations but human energy can also be depleted if it is not well managed. The significance of this study lies in the fact that human sustainability constitutes a real crisis in most organizations in Egypt, affecting employees' performance and productivity, an issue which has been of a major concern ever since the 25 th January Revolution. Accordingly, this study responds to a significant call for a greater understanding of human sustainability at work. Since the concept of human energy is still limited researched, this study intends to highlight the core of human dimension of sustainability by exploring the strategies that individuals use at work to manage and to sustain their energy throughout the workday. This study intends to recommend strategies for embedding human dimension of sustainability to maintain energetic organizations. Moreover this study opens a new area of research in organizations that will be rewarding for understanding the sustainability of employees' energy at work as well as the sustainability of organizations as a whole on the long term. This study can also provide a good starting point for human resource management HRM professionals to provide a display of HRM functions that are required to support human dimension of sustainability to maintain energetic organizations. The study concludes that maintaining energetic organizations in Egypt requires a comprehensive strategy for embedding human dimension of sustainability through an effective human energy management as the ability of employees to manage their energy at work is one of the important factor for supporting their productivity and welfare.
