Este trabajo tiene como objetivo reforzar el estudio del catolicismo global moderno, observado como un poder ideológico, con pretensiones de alcanzar una uniformidad cultural a lo largo del imperio hispánico. Para ello, se han analizado las múltiples fiestas de beatificación y canonización de Rosa de Lima, desarrolladas entre 1668 y 1671, desde una perspectiva global. La clave del análisis reside en observar la circulación y movilidad, tanto humana como material, que permitieron la expansión de una devoción criolla limeña y el desarrollo exitoso de las respectivas ceremonias, en el orbe católico del siglo XVII.
El presente artículo se construye sobre la figura del procurador religioso en la Edad Moderna, como pieza central para comprender las dinámicas de movilidad y agencia religiosa, en concreto, de aquellos sujetos de ultramar presentes en Europa procedentes de las Indias Occidentales. El caso del dominico limeño fray Antonio González de Acuña (1620-1682) se entiende expresivo para esta finalidad. Su estancia en Europa como procurador del proceso apostólico de Rosa de Lima, se convierte en el objeto de estudio, indagando en sus estrategias de mediación político-cultural a través de su actividad escrituraria. El análisis comparado de sus cinco obras impresas, junto a la fluida correspondencia que mantuvo entre Lima, Madrid y Roma, y los vestigios artísticos materiales de sus negocios, aportará las claves propagandísticas de una exitosa labor de procuraduría que condujo al dominico limeño a alcanzar el obispado de Caracas en 1671.
