El síndrome de maloclusión de Clase III de Angle es una alteración severa y se considera como una posición más adelantada del cuerpo mandibular en relación a la base ósea maxilar, ya sea por una deficiencia o retrusión maxilar o por un prognatismo o macrognatismo mandibular. La etiología de esta alteración se debe a factores hereditarios y ambientales. Se presenta el caso clínico que se trató a un paciente que cursa la primera década de vida, con la finalidad de corregir su mordida. Para el tratamiento se planteó realizar protracción maxilar mediante el uso de una férula tipo Mc Namara cementada en el maxilar superior, una máscara facial de Pettit y finalmente se realizó la rotación del plano oclusal por medio del desgaste oclusal de la férula, para permitir la erupción de los molares inferiores, logrando finalmente corregir el resalte y el sobrepase vertical, modificar el perfil antero-posterior y la orientación del plano oclusal.
