Abstract:This paper considers a repairable system with a repairman, who can take multiple vacations. If the system fails and the repairman is on vacation, it will wait for repair until the repairman is available. When the repairman comes back from his vacation, he starts repair immediately if the system wait for repair otherwise he will wait idly for fail arrival. Using Supplementary Variable Technique, the various expressions which depict the behavior of the system such as reliability of the system, Mean Time to System Failure (MTSF), availability, busy, vacation, idle times of the repairman and profit function have been derived. Finally, to effectiveness the proposed approach, the effect of the parameters of the system has been analyzed on to the system reliability and expected profit through an illustrative example.
