Destaca ainda a sua significância química e biológica e de seus compostos derivados.1,4-Benzoquinones are ubiquitous in nature and can be synthesized by diverse strategies. Recent developments on their synthetic methodologies, cycloaddition reactions, computational chemistry and pulse radiolytic studies are reported in this review. Their chemical and biological significance as well as their derivates' are also covered.
Cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdk) and their associated pathways represent some of the most attractive targets for the development of anticancer therapeutics. Based on antitumor activity in animal models, a variety of Cdk inhibitors are undergoing clinical evaluation either as a single agent or in combination with other approved drugs. In our anticancer drug discovery program, a novel series of flavones have been synthesized for evaluation against the activity of Cdk4-D1. This enzyme catalyzes the phosphorylation of retinoblastoma protein, thus inhibiting its function. We have identified a series of potent Cdk4-D1 inhibitors with IC 50 below 250 nmol/L. In this report, we have described the properties of one of the best compound,
There is rapid diminishing of water resources in many countries due to, for example, population growth and constant reduction in fresh water supply. The sewage wastewater, industrial effluents, and municipal wastewater are directly and indiscriminately discharged into rivers and lakes and thus primarily cause water pollution in Nepal. This has increased the water crisis and also causes environmental deterioration. Therefore, the need for the development of an effective, cheap, and environmentally friendly process for the treatment of wastewater before discharging into aquatic environment has emerged. Treatment by ozone produced from dielectric barrier discharge is one of the emerging technologies for such application. The ozonation process is more effective for disinfection and degradation of organic pollutants from water. The current study describes the treatment of wastewater of selected site within Kathmandu. Results on various physicochemical and microbial parameters of the inlet and outlet samples are discussed. Our results showed slight increase in pH, decrease in chemical oxygen demand, and significant increase in dissolved oxygen after ozonation. Importantly, ozonation caused total reduction of fecal coliform.
A simple facile 'one pot' synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyano-4,6-diarylpyridine derivatives via three component reaction of chalcone, malanonitrile and ammonium acetate under ultrasonic irradiation and grindstone technology. All the synthesized compounds have been characterized on the basis of their elemental analyses and spectral data (IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and Mass).
A series of 5-indolylpyrimido [4,5-d]pyrimidinones (4a-h) were obtained by multi-component reaction of 3-formylindole (1), thiobarbituric acid/barbituric acid (2) and thiourea/urea (3) under microwave irradiation in dry media. Secondly, grinding together neat reactants also gave the titled compounds in good yields. All the synthesized compounds have been characterized on the basis of elemental analyses and spectral data (IR, 1 H NMR and Mass). Representative compounds were also evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against Rhizopus stolonifer, Fusarium oxysporum, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa at different concentrations. Some of the compounds showed promising activity.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
