The relevance of selected biographical, physical fitness, and health-status measures for success in Underwater Demolition Team training was investigated. A combination of five variables, including a Cornell Medical Index subscale, yielded highly significant cross-validity coefficients with training success. Physical fitness tests were the most important predictors of training success, but prediction also could be enhanced by assessing physical and emotional health status with questionnaire methods.
