Introdução: crianças com deficiência auditiva possuem uma dificuldade maior no controle de voz, respiração e articulação, que se caracteriza por uma menor produção de sílabas por ciclo respiratório e maior esforço fonatório. Objetivo: analisar os dados da força muscular respiratória e a sua relação com as habilidades de audição e linguagem em crianças com deficiência auditiva. Métodos: participaram do estudo 50 crianças com deficiência auditiva, de ambos os sexos, com idades entre 7 e 12 anos usuárias de aparelho de amplificação sonora individual. As pressões respiratórias máximas foram mensuradas por meio do equipamento manovacuômetro e analisadas pelos valores dos preditos para PImáx e PEmáx, a audição e linguagem das crianças foram classificadas de acordo as categorias de audição e linguagem, a partir da aplicação dos instrumentos: GASP; ABFW-vocabulário; Word Association for Syllable Perception; Limiar de Reconhecimento de Sentenças. Resultados: constatou-se que crianças com deficiência auditiva apresentam fraqueza muscular respiratória em relação a crianças ouvintes, de acordo com valores preditos, independentemente do tipo de perda auditiva. Grande parte das crianças tem perda auditiva classificada pela melhor orelha como grau moderado (42%); entretanto, essas mesmas crianças apresentaram resultados com pequena diferença em porcentagem entre os resultados de pressão inspiratória máxima (n=11, 26%) acima do predito e 10 crianças (24%) abaixo do predito. As crianças avaliadas que possuem comunicação oral estão a 2% de diferença nos resultados entre PImáx e PEmáx. Conclusão: Pode-se afirmar que as crianças com deficiência auditiva apresentam fraqueza muscular respiratória independentemente do grau de perda auditiva, tipo de comunicação e classificação nas categorias de audição e de linguagem.
Objetivo: Investigar a correlação entre fatores sociodemográficos, cirúrgicos, nosológicos e o desenvolvimento neuropsicomotor e de linguagem em crianças com cardiopatia congênita e observar os efeitos da intervenção multidisciplinar no desenvolvimento destas crianças. Método: estudo descritivo, experimental e longitudinal de crianças com idades entre 10 meses e 9 anos com cardiopatia congênita que foram avaliadas em relação ao desenvolvimento motor, cognitivo e de linguagem e acompanhadas por um período de até um ano. Os dados sócios demográficos e sobre o histórico do desenvolvimento neuropsicomotor foram obtidos a partir de entrevista com a mãe ou cuidadores e os dados cirúrgicos e nosológicos foram extraídos dos prontuários do hospital em que elas foram operadas e vem sendo acompanhadas desde o nascimento. Resultados: Não se observou correlação de qualquer natureza entre tempo de internação e desenvolvimento posterior da criança. A correlação tempo de internação x resultados dos Testes PROC e CDC não apresentaram significância, ou seja, as 07 crianças analisadas não apresentaram resultados discrepantes quando comparadas entre si ou entre si e o tempo maior ou menor de internação. Também não se encontrou correlação entre o desenvolvimento ao longo do ano e o tempo de internação ou o número de cirurgias. Observa-se que todas as crianças têm uma condição adversa na linguagem. Pode-se afirmar que a maioria avançou desde onde estava quando avaliada, após a intervenção proposta, sustentando a importância de um tratamento multidisciplinar. Conclusão: Constatou-se, também, a importância da intervenção multidisciplinar no desenvolvimento destas crianças e, na consequente, melhoria da qualidade de vida.
O Grupo de Pais é uma proposta de intervenção que visa acolher os pais de crianças cardiopatas em seus dizeres sobre sua lida com a realidade imposta pela doença crônica. Dentro desse cenário, este trabalho ouviu esses pais para identificar os efeitos da cardiopatia de seus filhos e, propor uma forma de intervenção simples a ser implementada nos serviços de cardiopatia infantil. Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa descritiva, exploratória com um Grupo de Pais, coordenado por um psicanalista e, desenvolvido em um ambulatório de cardiopatia infantil. Os 18 encontros realizados com o grupo, foram mediados pelo método da Conversação. Ao todo participaram 19 pais, cujos dizeres foram gravados, transcritos e analisados. Concluímos, a partir dos dizeres dos pais, que ter um filho cardiopata exige responsabilidade e cuidados para além do esperado e gera sofrimentos que podem ser minimizados com a criação do Grupo de Pais, entendido como um espaço para a lida com as questões subjetivas.
Objetivo: compreende e analisar os efeitos da cardiopatia congênita no desenvolvimento de uma criança, como também, intervir clinicamente de forma a modificar os resultados da avaliação. Método: estudo de caso clínico descritivo, com análise quantitativa e qualitativa de diferentes dados de uma criança cardiopata com entraves no processo de desenvolvimento em geral e, em particular, na aquisição de linguagem. Procedimentos e materiais utilizados: entrevista com a mãe da criança; gravação dos encontros; diário de campo; aplicação do instrumento Perfil Psicoeducacional Revisado (PEP-R). Resultados: a) na parte quantitativa: Anaís atingiu 87 pontos na escala de desenvolvimento do PEP-R, o que indica um atraso neuropsicomotor de 01;06 anos; b) na parte qualitativa: a análise de fragmentos transcritos dos vídeos mostrou diferenças significativas nas respostas de Anaís ao teste, antes e depois de a pesquisadora modificar sua postura durante a aplicação. Conclusões: a mudança de postura do avaliador sensível à escuta do sujeito, possibilitou a emergência da subjetividade de Anaís manifesta em habilidades em desenvolvimento ou prestes a emergir. Anaís está à frente do teste, no sentido da recusa dos resultados obtidos na primeira aplicação, realizada de acordo com o manual do PEP-R. Por mais que algumas áreas permaneçam em descompasso, a participante mostrou uma transformação em suas respostas, com a mudança de abordagem. Portanto, o teste é eficaz para crianças com impasses na aquisição de linguagem desde que o avaliador não se restrinja a parametrizar o desenvolvimento e intervenha clinicamente em paralelo à avaliação.
