A aterosclerose é uma doença lenta e progressiva causada pela resposta inflamatória a partir da presença e acúmulo de placas gordurosas, em especial da lipoproteína de baixa densidade (LDL) no endotélio vascular que podem resultar na obstrução e redução da luz do vaso. Dentre esses vasos, os principais são as artérias coronárias, responsável por relacionar a presença da aterosclerose com o Infarto Agudo do Miocárdio (IAM). Objetivo: Essa revisão bibliográfica objetiva relacionar a presença da placa aterosterótica com o desenvolvimento do IAM. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica cujos artigos foram selecionados das bases de dados do LILACs, SciELO e Google Acadêmico e Diretriz brasileira de dislipidemias e prevenção da aterosclerose nas línguas portuguesa, espanhola e inglesa com os seguintes descritores: dislipidemia, vasos coronários, Infarto do Miocárdio e Aterosclerose. Considerações finais: A aterosclerose, doença multifatorial e progressiva, é relacionada à hiperlipidemia, obesidade e hipertensão, e tem sua morbidade e mortalidade relacionada ao alto nível de doenças cardiovasculares presentes a nível mundial. Há fatores de risco passíveis de mudanças, como reeducação alimentar a fim de reduzir níveis de colesterol e apoio médico para monitoramento lipídico e cardiovascular e mudanças no estilo de vida e fatores não modificáveis, como a idade.
Os glicocorticoides são um grupo de medicamentos amplamente utilizados no tratamento de várias condições inflamatórias e autoimunes. No entanto, pacientes que estão em uso crônico ou agudo desses medicamentos podem apresentar desafios específicos durante o período perioperatório. Este artigo científico tem como objetivo revisar as considerações importantes no manejo do paciente cirúrgico que está em uso de glicocorticoides, incluindo a avaliação pré-operatória, o planejamento anestésico, os cuidados intraoperatórios e o manejo pós-operatório.
Para pacientes adultos saudáveis com apendicite não perfurada, o manejo não cirúrgico com antibióticos e apendicectomia são opções de tratamento seguras para a apresentação inicial. O gerenciamento não operatório pode oferecer certos benefícios, como recuperação acelerada e menos dias de afastamento do trabalho ou outras atividades. Em troca, os pacientes devem ser aconselhados e dispostos a aceitar maiores incertezas da possível progressão da doença, apesar de antibióticos, recorrência da doença. Se a decisão for pela cirurgia, tanto a apendicectomia aberta quanto a laparoscópica são apropriadas para todos os pacientes; a escolha é por fatores do paciente e preferência do cirurgião.
