Os radares FM (Frequency Modulated) LPI (Low Probability of Intercept), ao contrário dos radares convencionais,transmitem um sinal de longa duração ou contínuo, com baixa potência, usando modulação causal. Estas características do radar LPI o tornam virtualmente invisível a receptores RWR (Radar Warning Receivers) e de MAGE (Medidas de Apoio à Guerra Eletrônica) convencionais. Muitos estudos no campo da Guerra Eletrônica (GE) estão sendo desenvolvidos a fim de lidar com esta vantagem do radar LPI. Uma abordagem promissora é o emprego de equipamentos MAGE com métodos de Transformada Tempo-Frequência para encontrar causalidade no espectro do ruído. Este artigo aplica a Wavelet Packets Transform (WPT) ao problema da caracterização do espectro eletromagnético, visando o desenvolvimento de uma metodologia para classificação automática. A caracterização tempo-frequência de sinais radar FM LPI obtida através da WPT é comparada àquela obtida através da Distribuição de Choi-Williams (Choi-Williams Distribuiton - CWD) e da Transformada de Fourier de Tempo Curto (Short-Time Fourier Transform - STFT).
