El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el nivel de dolor posoperatorio de cirugía electiva de ovariohisterectomía u orquiectomía en 66 felinos (41 hembras y 25 machos), utilizando la escala multidimensional de dolor de la UNESP-Botucatu con enfasis en la sub-escala 1 y 2. Se empleó un protocolo analgésico con meloxicam 0.05 mg/kg y tramadol 3 mg/kg e inducción con ketamina 10 mg/kg IV y mantenimiento a 5 mg/kg. La evaluación se efectuó cuando los felinos se encontraban sin efecto anestésico y podían manifestar de manera fiable alteraciones en el comportamiento indicativos de dolor asociado a la cirugía. Las evaluaciones de dolor fueron realizadas por dos observadores. El 89.4% de los pacientes presentaron dolor leve posquirúrgico y 10.6% dolor moderado. El 87.8% de las hembras (36/41) y el 92% de los machos (23/25) evidenciaron dolor leve. Ningún gato presentó dolor severo. El uso de las escalas multidimencionales como UNESP-Botucatu son clave para ajustar las necesidades analgésicas pos-quirúrgicas en los felinos sometidos a este tipo de cirugías.
El objetivo del presente estudio fue establecer la seroprevalencia de infección del virus de la leucemia felina (ViLeF) y el virus de la inmunodeficiencia felina (VIF) en muestras séricas de felinos evaluados con sospecha de infección retroviral en centros veterinarios de los municipios de Pereira, Dosquebradas y Santa Rosa de Cabal, departamento de Risaralda, Colombia y enviadas al Laboratorio EjeLab. Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo sobre los resultados de serología con kit comercial para inmunocromatografía (BionoteÒ) entre marzo de 2017 y julio de 2018. Se documentó la edad, raza, sexo de los animales. Se analizaron 388 muestras, siendo el 18.3% (71) positivas a VIF y el 25.8% (100) positivo a ViLeF. Se observó coinfección retroviral en el 8.2% (32) de los animales.
