Contextualização: crise epistemológica no estudo da relação gente-onça Conflito entre populações humanas e animais silvestres (human-wildlife conflicts) é um ramo bastante desenvolvido do estudo da relação e partição de recursos com animais silvestres e do conflito de interesses entre populações humanas afetadas negativamente pela fauna silvestre e conservacionistas. 1 Felinos, em especial os de grande porte, são propensos a predar criações de animais domésticos e, em alguns casos, atacar pessoas; por consequência, são perseguidos. O abate de grandes felinos como retaliação ou prevenção a ataques de animais domésticos é uma das principais ameaças que levaram as espécies a diferentes níveis de risco de extinção (Inskip & Zimmermann, 2009). Esforços têm sido feitos no intuito de recuperar populações reduzidas de felinos, como proibição ou restrição de abates, criação de unidades de conservação e campanhas de sensibilização da opinião pública. No entanto, esses animais continuam a gerar prejuízo e insegurança para populações humanas, que portanto prosseguem com abates. Como já mencionado, o conflito não se dá apenas entre o homem e os felinos silvestres, mas também entre atores humanos com distintas vivências, que resultam, por um lado, em preocupações locais com segurança, subsistência e perdas econômicas e, por outro, em preocupações globais com a depleção da biodiversidade e o equilíbrio ambiental. Catolicismo, escravidão e a resistência ao Império: Um outro olhar Ao longo das últimas três décadas, historiadores trataram o tema da escravidão com perspectivas querediscutiram a atuação dos cativos dentro do regime escravista brasileiro, lançando luz sobre os diversos episódios em que a agência escrava se revelou crucial para entender o cotidiano, as formas de resistência e as vitórias (ou derrotas) desses personagens nos processos históricos do período colonial ou do Império do Brasil. Além do próprio ineditismo de tal abordagem, essa nova visão historiográfica desconstruiu a visão de que os escravos eram personagens sem vontade e totalmente submissos às vontades senhoriais.
