A aplicação da reengenharia e prototipagem nos ambientes de ensino tem trazido uma grande mudança na forma de como se deve conduzir a aplicação de conceitos, antes, puramente teóricos com a possibilidade de se aplica-los na prática educacional da engenharia. Objetivando a colaboração com os laboratórios de ensino da UNESP – Campus de Guaratinguetá, o Grupo PET – Engenharia Mecânica se propôs a recuperar diversos equipamentos laboratoriais, utilizados nas disciplinas de Física Experimental dos cursos de engenharia e licenciaturas do campus, que apresentavam defeitos em razão do uso, em botões de acionamento de reguladores de tensões. Para isso, a partir de um software de modelagem 3D foi possível desenhar esses botões de acionamento, prepara-los para a impressão 3D em outro software de ajustes, seguido da impressão. Foram impressos 120 botões de acionamento e foi possível recuperar 12 equipamentos que estavam em vias de serem descartados por fata destas peças, indicando que a prototipagem pode ser muito útil para a aplicação rápida na recuperação de equipamentos.
