Las áreas verdes del Centro Histórico del Cusco, presentan una diversidad alta de especies de flora. Debido a lo mencionado el objetivo del estudio es determinar la composición de la flora arbórea y arbustiva en cinco áreas verdes del Centro Histórico. Para tal fin se realizó la evaluación en cinco lugares, Plazoleta de Santa Ana, Plaza San Francisco, Plaza Regocijo, Plaza de Armas, y el Parque de la Madre, mediante la observación directa, determinación de las especies mediante la ayuda de guías de flora y la experiencia de los autores. Se registraron un total de 170 individuos, pertenecientes a 49 especies de las cuales 26 son árboles y 23 arbustos. En cuanto al lugar donde se tuvo más diversidad, la Plaza San Francisco presento 42 especies y 95 individuos. En cuanto a los árboles se lograron registrar 88 individuos que representan el 51.76% del total registrado, especies arbustivas registradas son 82, que representan el 48.24%. En cuanto al origen de las especies 37 son nativas que representa el 75.51%, y las introducidas son 12 representa el 24.49%, esta diferencia es notoria debido a que por las condiciones climáticas de Cusco el crecimiento de especies arbóreas y arbustivas introducidas en poco exitoso. Este trabajo es el primero que se realiza comparando varias áreas verdes. Así mismo el uso de especies arbóreas y arbustivas nativas es más prevalente como plantas ornamentales.
