Jelenleg a kozmológia standard modellje a ΛCDM modell, mely hideg sötét anyagot és sötét energiát tartalmaz. A modern kozmológia egyik alapvető kérdése az ezt a modellt jellemző paraméterek meghatározása. A kialakuló sötétanyag-struktúrák statisztikai tulajdonságai függenek ezektől a paraméterektől, így szimulált univerzumok és csillagászati megfigyelések összehasonlításával a kozmológiai paraméterek meghatározhatók. Egy táguló univerzumban, a sötét anyag struktúráinak nem lineáris fejlődését N-test szimulációkkal modellezhetjük. Ilyen szimulációkat a XX. század utolsó negyedétől kezdve futtatnak a kozmológusok. A jelentős fejlődés az informatikában lehetővé tette, hogy mára már több ezermilliárd részecskével modellezhetjük a sötét anyag viselkedését a különböző kozmológiai modellekben. Ezek a szimulációk egy véges, periodikus térfogatban történnek, mivel az Univerzum végtelen térfogatát homogén felbontással nem lehet leszimulálni. Ilyen jellegű periodicitást a csillagászati megfigyelések nem tudtak kimutatni, így ezt a határfeltételt a valóság közelítésének tekintjük. Dolgozatomban a hagyományos szimulációs algoritmustoktól több szempontból is eltérő módszereket vizsgáltam.A dolgozat első részében áttekintem a modern kozmológia történetét és alapjait, különös tekintettel a hagyományos, periodikus kozmológiai szimulációknál használt eljárásokra, és az ezekhez tartozó kezdeti feltételek előállítására. Ezek ismertetése azért lényeges, mivel az itt bemutatott módszerekre épülnek az általam leírt új algoritmusok.A dolgozat második részében leírom a sötét anyag fejlődésének modellezésére kidolgozott új szimulációs algoritmusomat, és meghatározom, hogy speciálisan ehhez hogyan kell előállítani a kezdet feltételeket. A módszer neve StePS (Steoreographically Projected Simulations -Sztereografikusan Projektált Szimulációk), és lényege, hogy a végtelen térfogatú univerzumot egy véges, kompakt térfogatra képezzük le a inverz sztereografikus projekcióval izotróp módon, majd ebben a kompakt térben számítjuk a sötét anyag struktúráinak fejlődését. Ezekben a szimulációkban anyageloszlás a valódi térben nem állandó felbontású: a felbontás sugárirányban csökken, így az új algoritmus tekinthető egy új "zoom-in" szimulációs módszernek. A StePS módszer segítségével néhány millió részecskével közel ugyanakkora dinamikai tartomány vizsgálható, mint egy több milliárd részecskét tartalmazó hagyományos szimuláció esetén. Ennek
