time of admission. Significant direct relationship between SIRS and procalcitonin (r = 0.39), SIRS and leukocytes levels (Spearman criterion r = 0.38, p b 0.05) was observed. Almost all patients showed increased levels of IL 6, 8, 10 and TNF. The interrelation between the level of IL and patient outcome was noted -an increased level of IL 6, 8 and 10 was associated with poor outcome. Use of the Fisher criterion did not show a direct relationship between the outcome value in patients with a consequence of TBI and VS/UWS values, as well as in patients with consequences of hypoxia and TSH values, all other parameters were at meaning of 0.05 (that is, with a 95% probability). Regression analysis did not show positive results for any of the parameters. In our opinion, VS/ UWS patients, in their humoral indicators, do not fit the concept of homeostasis, but are in a special variant of immune, vegetative and other systems interaction, for which term "allostasis" is more suitable.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
