Two cases of severe scapulohumeral osteoarthritis in Miniature ponies are described, one bilateral and the other unilateral. The condition is thought to occur in miniature breeds as a result of scapulohumeral dysplasia. The presentation in one of the ponies was unusal: it refused to pick up either fore limb, with progression to a uniquely bizarre gait with narrow forelimb placement, an arched back and widely placed hindlimbs camped well forward under the body. The other pony was presented for an acute unilateral non-weight bearing forelimb lameness. Response to analgesia in both cases was poor and both ponies were euthanased. A pathological fracture was evident in one affected glenoid cavity.
Autoperimetry is a useful clinical tool for the detection of ocular and neurological pathology. It is an essential investigation for glaucoma management including its initial diagnosis and follow up. This article deals with the basics of autoperimetry, the guidelines and algorithm for interpreting single field analysis with emphasis on follow up strategies in glaucoma. It will be of great help to ophthalmologists as well as the postgraduate students in ophthalmology.
ABSTRACT:In developing country like India, the primary goal is to provide all the benefits to common man at minimal possible cost in visual rehabilitation of cataract. In achieving this goal, the surgery (MICS) described in this article can be extremely helpful. It has almost all the advantages of phacoemulsification, at the same time it is inexpensive. The wound construction, various techniques of nucleus delivery in MSICS are described precisely. This may stimulate the reader towards this surgery, which is the only way to tackle the huge backlog of cataract in developing countries, particularly in India, where 60% of rural people live in less than thirty rupees a day.
