Magnesium supplementation prevents blood pressure elevation in DOCA hypertensive rats. These effects are associated with inhibition of platelet calcium uptake and decreased intracellular free calcium concentration.
1 Patients ( n = 15) who were admitted with complications of tuberculosis, were given antitubercular therapy (ATT) with rifampicin (RIF), for a minumum period of 15 d, and cotrimoxazole (CTZ), concurrently, for 5-10 d. 2 The serum RIF levels were measured before the start of CTZ treatment and at the end of its administration. 3 The plasma half-life ( t½) of RIF increased significantly from 1.92 ± 0.57 h to 2.31 ± 0.134 h after CTZ treatment. 4 The mean serum levels of RIF increased significantly at 4 and 6 h after CTZ administration.
Sheep infected with a fenbendazole resistant strain of Haemonchus contortus and goats with a levamisole resistant strain of the same parasite were used to evaluate the anthelmintic efficacy of closantel. Closantel at the rate of 10 mg/kg body weight was 100% effective against the 2 resistant strains of the parasite as indicated by faecal egg count and worm reduction. The efficacy of fenbendazole in sheep and of levamisole in goats was 56.68 and 76.90%, respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
