Wireless and mobile computing is a new emerging paradigm for computing which has created a set of new problems as compared to static network-oriented computing. These include mobility management, intelligent caching, efficient routing strategies and handoff strategies. Currently a number of efforts are underway to construct and deploy communication networks based on low earth orbit (LEO) and intermediate circular orbit (ICO) satellites. Satellite systems can support both terrestrial wired and wireless networks. Simulation can be used in order to quickly prototype and compare various facets of a mobile satellite network system. There is a dearth of such tools for satellite network environments. In this paper, we present a modular simulation environment for mobile satellite networks.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
