A zoisite group of mineral samples from different localities are used in the present study. An EPR study on powdered samples confirms the presence of Mn(II), Fe(III) and Cr(III) in the minerals. NIR studies confirm the presence of these ions in the minerals.
EPR spectra of magnesite indicates the presence of Mn(1I) in the mineral. The optical absorption spectrum is due to Fe(I1) in the mineral and is in octahedral coordination. The concentration of iron in sample is very low where as manganese is not in the detectable range.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
