This paper presents the five-year long research results (2007-2011) of phenological observations (beginning, full flowering and the end of flowering), morphometric analysis (fruit weight, length, width and thickness of fruit, as well as length and width of the hilum), the ripening time and the average yield of selected genotypes of sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.). The results show that in terms of time of flowering chestnut trees examined in the group are very early flowering. The ripening of studied chestnut trees shows that the earliest harvest tree was Ostros II, VII and Kostajnica V (09.11.), and Kostajnica III (14.11.) were the latest. The average fruit weight of the selected sweet chestnut trees was (6.9 g). The highest average fruit weight (10.6 g), had the examined Ostros I tree, and the lowest (4.8 g), Kostajnica VI. The yield of the tested chestnut trees was on average (76.3 kg / tree). The selected trees Kostajnica II (66.0 kg / tree), Kostajnica I (69.0 kg / tree) had the smallest yield and Ostros VI (94.0 kg / tree) and Ostros V (87.0 kg / tree) had the highest. Obviously it can be concluded that population genetic variability is very high and gene expression is highly affected in tested samples on both locations. For further research it should be given attention to investigate genotypes in controlled conditions, the best in vitro in tissue culture. [Projekat Ministarstva nauke Republike Srbije, br. SUMMARYThe paper was written based on a study conducted in a nursery in the north of Montenegro during three successive years. The study had helped author of this paper to examine the possibility of producing one-year old seedlings of commercial medlar cultivars (Mespilus germanica L.) grafted on quince Ba 29 and wild pear generative rootstocks (Pyrus communis L.) during the first year after bud grafting. The aim of this study is to determine morphological characteristics, compatibility of commercial medlar seedling cultivars (Domestic medlar, Pomoravka -seedless medlar genotype, Royal medlar, Medlar without seeds) with the quince Ba 29 and wild pear generative rootstocks and water attaining capability of the leaves in one-year old seedlings of commercial medlar cultivars.The results of this study also showed that the water attaining capability of the leaves in one-year old seedlings of commercial medlar cultivars (Mespilus germanica L.) as an indicator of their resistance to drought was genetic characteristics of the cultivars.
SUMMARYThe study results over a three year period (2007)(2008)(2009)) on three cultivars of peach and nectarine (Early Crest, May Crest, Springbelle, Adriana, Rita Star and Caldesi 2000) has been presented in the paper. The study includes: time of flowering, pollen germination percentage, the percentage of fruit set, interspaces and time of fruit thinning and their influence on fruit weight and total yield of the examined cultivars. The study found a high percentage of fruit set especially in cv. May Crest (86.60%) and the lowest was in cv. Springbelle (80.51%). Interspace thinning of 5.0 cm gave the highest average of fruit weight (119.0 g) in cv. Caldesi 2000 and the lowest (54.3 g) in cv. Early Crest. At a distance of 10 cm interspace thinning the highest fruit weight was again in cv. Caldesi 2000 (141.0) and the lowest in cv. Early Crest (59.3 g). Our research shows that the most favorable period for thinning of peaches in our agroecological conditions is at the end of April, when the initial fruit weight is 3-5 g.
