SUMMARY Echinococcosis is a widespread zoonosis, which is endemic in most sheep raising countries. The cervico facial localisation and particullary masseter muscular is uncommon even in these endemic areas. The hydatid cyst in this location raises a problem of diagnosis and therapeutic difficulties because of the presence of nervous nets of VII. The authors report a rare case of primary hydatid cyst localized in masseter muscle.
