New, thermally stable polyesters with varying chlorine content were prepared by solution and interfacial polycondensation between chlorinated aromatic dichlorides (perchloroterephthaloyl dichloride, 2,5‐dichloroterephthaloyl dichloride, and perchloro‐4,4′‐dichloroformyl biphenyl with different aliphatic and aromatic diols). The polymers were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis. Their solubilities and molecular weights were also determined. The influence of chlorine content on the thermal properties of the polymers is discussed.
