The pressure dependence of the acoustic velocities of a Pd39Ni10Cu30P21 bulk
metallic glass have been investigated up to 0.5 GPa at room temperature with the
pulse echo overlap method. Two independent second-order elastic coefficients
C11 and
C44
and their pressure derivatives are yielded. The vibrational anharmonicity is
shown by calculating both the acoustic mode Grüneisen parameters in the
long-wavelength limit and the thermal Grüneisen parameter, and this result is
compared with that for the Pd40Ni40P20 bulk glass.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
