Tk work reported here is the result of d u g a special solid fael developed as a working flaid for MHD generators by Hercules Iac Conductivity merwrements of the combstiaa p r o d & were made osing the electrodes of the Hall channel as floating potential probes The experimentally determined valws of the average conductivity for this type of propellantwerefomdtobemtherPngebetween40nod50mho/m.Geoerntor experiments were performed with two Mer& types of dmmek operating as a HaB gewratw and as a 45" diagonal conducting wall generator. Tbe generator power output was f d to be 3 to 4 times higher thrm that achieved by even higher flow rates wing conventional RPI and gaseom oxygen for the same generator channel and magnetic field codthm. However, the power increase was higdbnt for the HaB generator. The gememtors operated with relatively tittle effect observed when coatings of alominun oxide and other chemicals from the fuel covered the interior of the chanwl.
