SrC1, single crystals were grown by the Czochralsky method. Their reflectivity a t 300 K and transmission a t 4.2 K were measured for frequencies from 10 to 930 cm-l and 10 to 150 cm-l, respect.ively. The reststrahl band found in the reflection spect,rum has been analyzed by means of a classical oscillator model. In addition, a Kramers-Kronig analysis was performed since a satisfactory f i t could not be achieved with the classical model. The frequencies of the TO-mode and the LO-mode were det,ermined to be 138 and 233 cn-1, respectively. A pronounced shoulder on the reststrahl band was observed as is also the case for CaF,, BaF, etc. Its origin is discussed in terms of multi-phonon processes. The results of the transniission measurements show that SrCI, is transparent in the far infrared up t.o 110 cni-l where the lattice absorption st,arts a t 4.2 K.Es wurden SrCl,-Einkristalle nach dem Czochralsky-Verfahren geziichtet,. 1111 Bereich 10 bis 930 cm-l nurden Reflexionsmessiingen (bei 300 K) und im Bereich 10 bis 150 cni-1 Transmissionsmessungen (bei 4.2 K ) durchgefiihrt. Die irn Reflexionsspektrurn gefundene Restst,rahlenbande nurde mittels klassischer Dispersionstheorie analysiert and, da eine befriedigende optimale Anpassung nicht zu erreichen war, zuuiitzlich einer Kraniers-Kronig-Analyse unterworfen. Es ergaben sich die Frequenzen der TO-Eigenschwingung zu 138 cm-l und der LO-Mode zu 223 cni-'. I n der Reststrahleribande t,aucht die sclion aus den Ypektren von CaF,, BaF, etc. bekannte Schnlter auf, deren Ursache anhand von Rlehrphononenprozessen diskutiert wird. Ans den Transmissionsrnessungen geht hervor, daI3 SrCI, im fernen Infrarot durchlassig ist bis 110 cm-', wo bei 4,2K die Gitterscli\~ingniigsabsorption einset zt.
SrC1, single crystals doped with Fe2+ and Co2+ are grown and the absorption spectra in the far infrared (5 to 100 cm-l) and middle infrared (400 to 4000 cm-1) spectral ranges are investigated.Several lines are observed which are assigned to electronic transitions of the impurity ions based on their dependence on the impurity concentration and on the temperature. The crystal field Hamiltonian appropriate for Fe2+ and Coa+ in SrCl, is diagonalized. The crystal field parameter Dq and the spin-orbit coupling parameter 3, are obtained from an optimum fit of the calculated level spacing to the experimentally observed transitions. Application of a magnetic field yields for both kinds of impurity ions the g-factor of the ground state.Es werden SrC1,-Einkristalle geziichtet und mit Fez+-und Co2+-Ionen dotiert. Transmissionsmessungen in den Spektralbereichen des FIR (5 bis 100 cm-l) und MIR (400 bis 4000 cm-l) ergeben fur beide Ionenarten Linien, die aufgrund der Konzentrations-und Temperaturabhiingigkeit elektronischen Vbergiingen der dotierten Ionen zugeordnet werden. Der fur diese Ionen BUS der Kristallfeldtheorie hergeleitete Hamilton-Operator wird diagonalisiert und das resultierende Energieniveauschema durch geeignete Wahl des Kristallfeldparameters Dq und des Spin-BahnKopplungsparameters A an die experimentellen Ergebnisse angepaBt. Aus Messungen der Magnetfeldabhlngigkeit wird fur beide Ionenarten der g-Faktor des Grundzustandes bestimmt.
