The BIG provides an effective alternative IV access for critical patients in whom a peripheral IV line cannot be readily obtained in the prehospital setting.
A worldwide public health policy for physical distancing in response to a pandemic has meant traditional performance-based assessments (PBAs) must be reconsidered. High-stakes simulation-based PBAs, which represent constructs well and traditionally mean interactions with others, are a common pathway for clinicians to enter the workforce or independent practice. 1 However, where neither offering nor abandoning PBAs is possible (e.g., due to workforce shortages), a pandemic means rethinking simulation-based assessment models.
