L'activité de classement permet à l'individu d'articuler entre eux des objets (ici végétaux) et sa propre personne. L'outil de cette première systématique est l'établissement de rapports de similitude et d'analogie. L'homme nomme un ensemble d'objets, perçu comme homogène et différent de tous les autres. Cette activité de classement et de dénomination produit l'échange d'informations et de messages dans le groupe social. La première partie met en évidence les mécanismes présidant à la formation du nom, plus particulièrement du nom vernaculaire (= populaire) d'une catégorie de plantes. La seconde s'appuie sur la présence d'une formation végétale, la haie de bocage, plantée par les hommes et dont le nom et la forme évoluent au cours du temps. Nommer les plantes Dans un essai antérieur, Bruno de Foucault (1993) a précisé les mécanismes de la genèse phytonymique. Illustré de multiples exemples, aussi bien scientifiques que vernaculaires, empruntés dans ce dernier cas aux patrimoines phytolinguistiques français, iranien, gabonais, laotien, guadeloupéen…, il avait montré le nombre limité de mécanismes caractérisant autant de catégories ou « structures formelles » phytonymiques. On est alors tenté d'avoir recours à un patrimoine différent pour examiner la portée plus générale des catégories mises en évidence dans cet essai. Nous nous intéresserons ici à quelques noms populaires marocains (région de Rabat-Salé), à l'exclusion du berbère ; en outre les plantes citées font partie de la pharmaco
