r e s u m o informação sobre o artigo Historial do artigo: Recebido a 16 de Maio de 2017 Aceite a 4 de Novembro de 2017 On-line a 16 de Novembro de 2017 O tórus palatino é definido como um crescimento ósseo não patológico ao longo da linha média do palato duro, sendo considerada a exostose intra-oral mais comum. Apresenta etiologia desconhecida, porém alguns autores acreditam que surge devido a uma interação entre fatores genéticos e ambientais. Na maioria dos casos, são assintomáticos, não sendo necessária a remoção cirúrgica. O presente trabalho objetivou relatar o caso de tórus palatino tratado por uma técnica cirúrgica modificada. Em ambiente hospitalar e, sob anestesia geral, foi realizada uma incisão de espessura total estendendo-se lateralmente ao tórus palatino, limitado anteriormente pelas rugas palatinas e posteriormente pelo forame palatino maior. Esta técnica demonstrou como principais vantagens a simplicidade de execução, acesso favorável, linha de incisão ter repousado sobre osso sadio e pós-operatório satisfatório. Em sumário, a técnica cirúrgica utilizada foi uma alternativa prática e segura, podendo ser empregada no tratamento do tórus palatino quando bem indicada.
