Introduction:The bariatric surgery appears as a last resort to counter morbid obesity. The objective of this study is to analyse the efficiency of the bariatric surgery linked to the type of surgery, the postoperative supervision, and to analyse the comorbidity evolution pre-and postoperative. Material and Methods: The study carried is a transversal and retrospective research on 306 patients data's who have suffered an operation between 2010, 2011 and 2012 in a sleeve gastrectomy or a gastric bypass in the Brussels Weight Loss Center (Saint Pierre hospital in Brussel). Results: The analysis reveals that the bariatric surgery is efficient according to the global score BAROS. A postoperative monitoring allows to obtain a more efficient result (p<0.05) than ones who did not benefit from the monitoring. The occurrence of comorbidities decreases for postop patients with monitoring. The patients for which the intervention was efficient have a considerable improvement of their type 2 diabetes and of their hypertension (p<0.05). Also a number of patients have no longer any residual comorbidities related to obesity. Conclusions: The observations revealed that the bariatric surgery is an efficient solution against morbid obesity. With a regular multidisciplinary monitoring program including many health professionals implemented, the general outcome for those patients could be enhanced.
