Es wird gezeigt, daß durch Umkehrung der Martinschen Beziehung die Konstitution einer Substanz (Zahl der Atome, funktionellen Gruppen und Bindungsinkremente) aus Rf-Werten und gewissen Konstanten errechnet werden kann.Es müssen ebenso viele Rf-Werte bekannt sein, als Unbekannte zu berechnen sind.Die Formulierung erfolgt im Matrizenkalkül.Die praktische Anwendung des Verfahrens wird an Beispielen diskutiert.Auf die Möglichkeit, einen Teil der Konstitutionsaufklärung ohne Isolierung ausschließlich auf Grund von Rf-Wert-Bestimmungen durchzuführen, wird hingewiesen.
RM = log als Meßwert, welcher dem vorgeschlagenen Verfahren zur Konstitutionsaufklärung zugrunde lag, hat sich nicht als allgemein brauchbar erwiesen. Auftretende Anomalien blieben zunächst unerklärt.Es wurde daher versucht, die Theorie der Papierchromatographie auf eine breitere Grundlage zu stellen. Die so erhaltene Beziehungerlaubt eine sinnvolle Deutung wesentlicher, in der Papierchromatographie beobachteter Abweichungen. Noch verbleibende Unschärfen sind z. T. experimentell oder materiell bedingt und nicht allgemein zu erfassen.Durch Einführung physikalisch definierter Maßfunktionen für Rf von der Form log für die das Symbol RN vorgeschlagen wird, kann in fast allen Fällen, in denen RM versagt, innerhalb gewisser Intervalle Linearität zwischen RN und den ganzzahligen Vielfachen der konstitutionellen Gruppen und Zustände organischer Verbindungen erzielt und damit eine Konstitutionsermittlung praktisch möglich gemacht werden.Dies wird an einer Reihe von Beispielen belegt.Untersuchungen sind im Gange, Rf durch eine bessere Meßgröße zu ersetzen
