Ovicidal and larvicidal effects of Dimilin against the European corn borer, Ostrinia nubilalis (Hbn.)
The insect growth regulator Dimilin was tested against eggs and larvae of the European corn borer, Ostrinia nubilalis (Hbn). Larvae were fed with various concentrations of Dimilin in the diet. With 2.5 ppm AI Dimilin a mortality of 95.6% of the larvae resulted. If females laid eggs on corn leaves sprayed with 0.1% Dimilin WP 25 94% of the eggs did not hatch. The results show that Dimilin is a promising agent for the control of the European corn borer and should be tested in field trials.
