Представлены данные об основных причинах возникновения лесных пожаров в Челябинской обл. Установлено, что в пожароопасный период с апреля по октябрь 2018 г. в лесах Челябинской обл. произошло 648 пожаров, из которых всего 5 по вине гроз, т. е. 0,8 % общего количества пожаров. Доказано, что в 215 случаях пожары возникали по вине местного населения (33,2 %), в 19 (2,9 %) -причиной пожаров явились линии электропередач, в 398 (61,4 %) случаях пожары на лесные территории пришли с полей и других территорий, не относящихся к лесному фонду, в 11 (1,7 %) случаях пожары возникали на границах территорий лесного и нелесного фонда. Установить причины возникновения пожаров на данных территориях не удалось, вероятнее всего, природа их возникновения связана с человеческим фактором. Исследования показали, что самые мощные пожары произошли в октябре 2018 г., для которого зафиксировано следующее соотношение 1 пожар = 59,8 га общей площади пожаров. С начала пожароопасного сезона 2019 г. на территории лесного фонда Челябинской обл. с апреля по июнь было ликвидировано 48 лесных пожаров на площади 278,61 га.
