High-frequency or induction-coupled plasma discharges as spectrometric excitation sources have been investigated by several workers in recent years, in attempts to avoid the inherent disadvantages of the d.c. arc, the low-energy flame, and the d.c. arc-plasma, as used in flame photometric and emission spectrographic analysis.
The total phosphate content of detergent materials is determined by measurement of the emission of the HPO molecular species at wavelength 528 nm in a cool hydrogennitrogen diffusion flame. Preliminary treatment with cation-exchange resin is necessary to remove interference by metals.Analytical results on detergent samples containing up to 20 per cent. of phosphates (expressed as P,O,) indicate a precision of the order of 2 to 4 per cent. for the method.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
