Synthesis of a New Series of Furyl and Thienyl Substituted Pyrazolines Starting with Furyl and Thienyl Chalcones.-The chalcones (III) are obtained from 2-acetylfuran (Ia) or 2-acetylthiophene (Ib) by condensation reaction with the aromatic aldehydes (II). Reaction with hydrazine hydrate or methylhydrazine (IV) yields the substituted pyrazolines (V). N-Acetylated pyrazolines are obtained using glacial acetic acid as the solvent.
