Este estudo teve por objetivo verificar, através de questionários enviados aos profissionais das redes de ensino pública e particular da cidade de Ribeirão Preto e região, se há ou não o serviço de psicologia escolar. Havendo, quais são as atribuições e dificuldades do psicólogo; não havendo, como as escolas procuram solucionar seus problemas e quais as expectativas desses profissionais. Os dados revelaram que este serviço, apesar de restrito, 6 reconhecido, entretanto, é necessário se tornar conhecido não só pela comunidade escolar, como pela sociedade. This study has as an objetive to verify, by means of questionaires sent to professionals of the public and private education systems of Ribeirão Preto and region, of there is or not a school psychology service. In the case that this service exists what are the attributions and difficulties of the psychologist. If this service does not exist how do the schools attempt to resolve their problems and what are the expectations of these professionals in relation to this service. The date revealed that this service, in spite of being restricted, is recognized, although it is necessary that the service is not only recognized by the school community but by society as well
