⎯ the Indonesian government's policy of using biodiesel as an alternative fuel in the shipping industry is still an intensive discussion. Biodiesel as a substitute for diesel fuel has an impact on engine performance, lifetime and emission. The use of biodiesel fuel will increase the wear rate on metal components in diesel engines. From a series of tests carried out in accordance with Engine Manufacturer Association (EMA) standards, wearing on several engine components would be increase when the engine run using biodiesel palm oil (B30). The results showed that there was 19.8% aluminum content, 0.75% iron content, and chromium content in diesel engine lubricating oil with B30 biodiesel fuel higher than using diesel fuel. In addition, the clerance in the pisthon ring also increases and wear is seen on the journal bearing. However, the deposits formation in the diesel engine components made from palm oil biodiesel B30 is 5.43% increase than diesel fuel. From these results, it may be concluded that using of B30 palm oil biodiesel as fuel reduce durability of diesel engine standart.Keywords⎯ biodiesel B30, diesel engine, deposit, engine components, wear.
This study was aimed to recognize the effect of welding technology, welder expertise and welding equipment maintenance on the quality of the construction of a Fast Patrol Boat (PC) 40. This study was a quantitative descriptive study with 45 respondents as data sources. The data analysis technique in this study was processed with the SPSS version 25 program. The results showed that there were positive and significant effects of welding technology on the conatruction quality of the Fast Patrol Boat (PC) 40, positive and significant effects of welder expertise on the construction quality of Fast Patrol Boat Development. Sistem propulsi kapal terdiri dari tiga komponen utama yaitu motor penggerak utama, sistem transmisi dan alat gerak. Ketiga komponen utama ini merupakan suatu kesatuan yang didalam proses perencanaannya tidak dapat ditinjau secara terpisah. Alat gerak kapal disini adalah propeller, propeller adalah komponen utama dalam menggerakkan suatu kapal. Dalam mendesain suatu propeller, ada beberapa tahapan yang harus dilaksanakan yaitu menghitung tahanan total kapal (RT) dan kebutuhan power kapal beserta losses yang diterima dalam sistem propulsi kapal. Dalam tulisan ini dilaksanakan desain propeller pada kapal tipe AT 117 meter dengan menggunakan software Propcad. Propcad adalah perangkat lunak yang digunakan untuk mendesain gambar tampilan propeller dengan tampilan 2D dan 3D serta menghasilkan desain gambar dengan ukuran sebenarnya yang ditampilkan dalam format CAD. Data yang digunakan berasal dari data hasil perhitungan MARIN DESP Program. Kesimpulan dari tulisan ini adalah adalah propeller yang cocok digunakan pada kapal tipe AT 117 meter dan diolah dengan MARIN DESP Program dan diinputkan ke dalam software propcad adalah diameter propeller sebesar 2.5 meter dengan 4 blade dan mempunyai (P/D) sebesar 0.937, AE/A0 sebesar 0.786 dan revolution sebasar 305 rpm.
