O profissional de enfermagem tem papel imprescindível para o planejamento e organização dos cuidados à pessoa com estomia. Nesse sentido objetivou-se identificar o conhecimento de enfermeiros acerca do manejo de enfermagem à pessoa com estomia de eliminação. Estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa, realizado com trinta enfermeiros atuantes em instituições públicas de saúde, uma terciária e uma secundária de Barra do Garças-MT. Utilizou-se a entrevista semiestruturada para coleta de dados no período de novembro de 2019 e a técnica de análise de conteúdo para analisar os resultados obtidos. Emergiram duas categorias: entendimento dos enfermeiros sobre estomias de eliminação e intervenções de enfermagem executada. Evidenciou-se falas inseguras e algumas respostas errôneas, cujos cuidados limitavam-se basicamente na troca do equipamento coletor e observação/avaliação da pele periestomia. As dificuldades dos enfermeiros frente aos conceitos e técnicas refletem na qualidade da assistência prestada, o que torna necessário ações que visem a qualificação profissional.Descritores: Estomia, Enfermagem, Educação Continuada. Nurses' perception of elimination ostomies: reflections for qualified careAbstract: The nursing professional has an essential role in the planning and organization of care for people with ostomy. In this sense, the objective was to identify nurses' knowledge about nursing management for people with an ostomy. The objective of the present study was to analyze the profile of the drugs used and to identify the socio-demographic characterization of institutionalized elderly. Methodology: This is a descriptive, exploratory, retrospective study with a quantitative approach, carried out with medical records of 60 elderly people in the dependencies of the Benedictine Association of Providence, a long-term institution in the municipality of Aragarças, in the region of Araguaia, in the period from September to December of 2017. Results: The results showed that the most commonly used medications are antihypertensives, antipsychotics, antidepressants and diuretics. Other medications are used in smaller quantity, attending to individual needs. In addition, the majority of the elderly were female, single, with children, paid for retirement and maximum institutionalization time of 18 years. Conclusion: It is concluded that the medications used are common to control chronic diseases characteristic of the group studied, such as antihypertensives and diuretics, especially the large number of people taking antipsychotics and antidepressants. It is imperative to institute actions that restore the self-esteem of these elderly people, seeking to promote well-being and quality of life.
