As projeções demográficas tornam cada vez mais evidente o crescente envelhecimento da população brasileira. Diante desse quadro e da pandemia, é natural que as autoridades públicas e a sociedade, como um todo, comecem a ter uma maior preocupação com a qualidade de vida das pessoas com idade mais avançada. Por meio deste trabalho esperou-se avaliar a influência da pandemia sobre a qualidade de vida dos idosos, a alteração ou manutenção dos exercícios físicos durante este período nos grupos ativos e sedentários, bem como identificar os fatores que motivaram sua permanência regularmente e as principais barreiras que dificultaram a adesão no grupo sedentário. Este estudo é de natureza exploratório-descritiva, transversal e de abordagem quanti-qualitativa. Os dados foram coletados e analisados por meio do questionário SF-36 e outro socioeconômico, elaborado pelo próprio grupo de pesquisa e também pela análise estatística por meio dos métodos Shapiro-Wilk e Wilcoxon. No quesito Qualidade de Vida, as pontuação dos domínios AE, CF e LAF reduziram comparativamente a antes e durante a pandemia. No grupo ativo, 16,3% relataram ter reduzido a frequência com que praticavam suas atividades. Já o grupo sedentário (28,6%) continuou a não praticar exercícios físicos. Os idosos sedentários justificaram o desânimo e a falta de coragem (16%) como principais fatores dificultadores à adesão. Portanto, alguns aspectos da qualidade de vida dos idosos piorou durante a pandemia. Houve redução na frequência na prática de atividades físicas entre o grupo ativo, sendo que o grupo sedentário permaneceu na mesma condição.
