BACKGROUND: Serum ferritin, which measures stored iron, is an inflammatory marker and a potential novel risk factor for CAD. Its role in coronary artery disease like acute myocardial infarction has generated considerable interest in recent times. There is a plethora of articles reporting the relationship between serum ferritin and acute myocardial infarction but with conflicting and contradictory results. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: 1) To compare serum ferritin levels in cases of coronary artery disease with those of controls, in order to assess the relationship of serum ferritin with coronary artery disease. 2)
A Persistent Left Superior Venacava (PLSVC) is the most common variation of the thoracic venous system and rare congenital vascular anomaly and is prevalent in 0.3% of the population. It may be associated with other cardiovascular abnormalities including atrial septal defect, bicuspid aortic valve, coarctation of aorta, coronary sinus ostial atresia, and cor triatriatum. Incidental rotation of a dilated coronary sinus on echocardiography should raise the suspicion of PLSVC. The diagnosis should be confirmed by saline contrast echocardiography. Condition is usually asymptomatic. Here we present a rare case of persistent left superior vena cava presented in OPD with dyspnoea & palpitations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
