Research has been carried out to determine the LD50 value and observe the toxic effects of Ethanol Extract of Lemongrass Leaves (EEEL) on male mouse using 64 male mouse which were divided into 4 groups. The control group was given 0.5% CMC-Na suspension while the treatment group was given a single dose of EEEL suspension with doses of 1500, 3500, and 7000 mg/kg BW given on the first day. Observations of toxic symptoms, changes in body weight and number of deaths were carried out for a span of 7-14 days. After observation, the surviving mouses were sacrificed for macropathological and histopathological examination of the liver and kidneys. The determination of the LD50 value was calculated based on the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia Method Edition VI, while the statistical data was tested using Quadratic Nonlinear Regression (QNR) with the SPSS computer program. The simplicia characterization showed positive results on triterpenoid, tannin, flavonoid, and saponin tests, and anthraquinone glycosides and negative results on alkaloid and steroid tests. The results showed that there were toxic symptoms starting in the 3500 and 7000 mg/kg BW dose groups. The statistical results of Quadratic Nonlinear Regression (QNR) also showed no significant difference between each group. In addition, there were no color differences in all groups in the results of organ macropathology. However, liver damage was found on organ macropathological examination at doses of 1500, 3500, and 7000 mg/kg BW. Meanwhile, EEEL doses of 3500 and 7000 mg/kg caused glomerular hypertrophy and dilation of several renal tubules. The LD50 result is 4,965.92 mg/kg BW which indicates that EEEL was categorized as moderate toxic.
The chemical knowledge of students was low because learning activities tend to be teacher oriented. For this reason, we need to develop knowledge acquisition process skill. Therefore we suggest scientific attitude which included in the “Science Process Skill”. The purpose of this research was to determine the type of learning model which was able maximize the students’ scientific processes skills. The results of the application can be observed in student learning activities during observation. A quasi-experimental control group with pre and post-test design was performed in this study. The sample were students in XII MIA-1 in SMAN 5 Binjai which applied Guided Inquiry learning model meanwhile XII MIA-2 applied conventional learning. The results showed that the Science Process Skills in both experiment classes obtained an average score of 93.78 and 75.32 respectively so that they were categorized as “Very Good” and “Good” on 6 (six) aspects: observing, grouping, applying concepts, interpreting, conducting experiments, formulating hypotheses. While learning activities obtained an average score of 90.27 and 79.29 respectively, so that they were categorized as “Very Good” and “Good” on the five indicators: Readiness to learn, skills for using tools, actively providing opinion, working in group and making conclusion.
Pelatihan refreshment awareness implementasi klausul ISO/IEC 17025:2017 kepada analis laboratorium di PT. SOCIMAS telah dilakukan oleh tim dosen Universitas Tjut Nyak Dhien bekerja sama dengan beberapa kolega dari universitas lainnya. Jumlah analis laboratorium yang diikutsertakan adalah 29 orang dengan latar belakang pendidikan S1 Kimia, S1 Teknik Industri, dan D3 Analis. Pelatihan diberikan menggunakan media online Zoom Meeting di dua gelombang. Gelombang I dilakukan pada tanggal 20 Mei 2022, dan Gelombang II dilakukan pada 30 Mei 2022 dengan durasi masing-masing gelombang adalah 3 jam. Untuk mengkur efektifitas pelatihan yang diberikan, tim melakukan pemberian soal sebelum dan sesudah dengan media digital Typeform. Dari skor ujian sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa semua analis sudah memahami implementasi sistem manajemen laboratorium yang baik guna menjaga proses analisis produk yang sudah tersertifikasi serta kepuasan pelanggan internal dan eksternal
Telah dilakukan penentuan kadar mineral SiO2, Fe2O3, Al2O3, CaO dan MgO; kadar logam berat Zn, Pb, Cd, Cr dan Cu; serta penentuan distribusi ukuran partikel dari limbah abu terbang (fly ash) batubara industri oleokimia. Penentuan mineral SiO2, Fe2O3, dan Al2O3 dilakukan secara gravimetri sedangkan CaO dan MgO menggunakan metode titrimetri. Penentuan kadar logam berat dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Spektroskopi Serapan Atom (SSA). Dari penelitian yang dilakukan didapatkan karakteristik komposisi mineral SiO2, Fe2O3, Al2O3, CaO dan MgO dari sampel fly ash batubara yang berasal dari limbah industri oleokimia masing-masing 22,842%; 0,0210%; 20,599%; 2,145%, dan 0,39% serta kandungan logam berat Zn, Pb, dan Cd masing-masing sebesar 21,90625 mg/L; 6,1467 mg/L; dan 0,37065 mg/L. Sedangkan kandungan logam berat Cr dan Cu tidak terdeteksi. Data hasil pengukuran partikel dengan instrumen Laser Scattering Particle Size Distribution Analyzer Tipe LA-950 didapatkan ukuran rata-rata (mean size) dari partikel fly ash adalah 291,08762 μm. Berdasarkan nilai ambang batas yang ditetapkan oleh pemerintah tersebut, kadar logam berat zinc (Zn) dan kadmium (Cd) pada sampel limbah fly ash batubara industri oleokimia masih berada dibawah ambang kadar yang ditetapkan. Sedangkan kadar timbal (Pb) berada di ambang batas yang ditetapkan oleh PP 85 Tahun 1999 Tentang Pengelolaan Limbah B3.
