Selective removal of the benzylidene and isopropylidene protections in the presence of acid-labile p-methoxybenzyl group using H 2 SO 4 -silica in methanol is reported. The deprotection reactions were found to be clean and result in the desired products in good to excellent yields.
Group. -Selective removal of the benzylidene and isopropylidene protections in the presence of acid--labile p-methoxybenzyl group using H 2SO4-silica in methanol is reported. The catalyst can be easily recovered by filtration and reused several times without loss of activity. The reaction can also be scaled up giving the desired products in high yields. -(VERMA, P.
