In this paper we propose a technique for downlink beam steering in GSM, i.e transmition with multiple antennas at the base station. The objective is to reduce the downlink interference level and thereby enable capacity and quality enhancements. The simulation results indicates that the proposed technique generates less than 0.9dB more interference (defined as the total amount of transmitted power given a certain power at the desired mobile), than the theoretical minimum, provided that the mean uplink C/I is better than -8dB, and frequency hopping is applied.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
